There are 19 Athletics & Road Running Clubs affiliated to the OxonAA.
These clubs cater for all ages and standards. The main disciplines are:

  • Track and Field
  • Road Running
  • Cross Country

The OxonAA organises County Championships and selects county teams for national, regional,
inter-county championships and events.

Adidas Mini London Marathon 2009: South East Team Selection

The Adidas Mini London Marathon has evolved over a number of years from London Boroughs, Counties and Home Nations to the 2009 Race on Sunday 26th April which will comprise of London Boroughs, Home Nations and Regional Teams based on the eight regions of England Athletics that replace the County entries from previous years.

This is a progressive move towards a National Road Race for young Athletes, pitching the very best Athletes against one another.

Each team will comprise of six boys and six girls from each of the following age categories: 11-12; 13-14; 15-17.

The athletes’ age is applicable on day of race. The course is 3 miles and starts at Old Billingsgate and finishes under the London Marathon gantry in The Mall.

Eric Andrews Cross Country competition Sunday 23rd November cancelled

Sorry for the short notice, but unfortunately we have regrettably decided to cancel the above event.

The building work/fencing around the school would make the organisation and the course itself problematic, and in any case, the entries are very low so it would not be financially viable. We will maybe try again next year when things have settled down!

Thanks for your support and apologies for any inconvenience caused. We will try to contact as many parties as possible but please spread the word if you know of anyone entered or planning to run.

Tri Region Coaches Conference

'Raising the Coaching Bar'‘It’s got bigger’! After the success of last years East and London Coaches Conference, this year will see the welcome inclusion of the South East Region making this the biggest athletics coaching conference of its kind in England.
On Saturday 6th December 2008 at the Lee Valley Indoor Athletics Centre coaches from all over the three regions will be invited to attend a series of workshops and coaching clinics covering such areas as Fundamentals of Athletics, optimising technique and event specific training.

Some of the Biggest Coaching Names in British/World Athletics will be on hand to deliver at this years Conference

AGM Oxon AA

The AGM of the OxonAA will be held on Friday 17th October 2008 at Exeter Hall Kidlington.
Start 7:30.
All clubs are invited to send representitives to discuss the future of athletics in Oxfordshire and to elect officers.

Oxon lads star in gold strike

Oxfordshire's junior boys upstaged their illustrious rivals to strike gold in the English Schools' Sainsbury's Combined Events Championships at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium.

The trio of Ed O'Hara (Larkmead School, Abingdon), Peter Barnshaw (Abingdon School) and Marcus Woodington (Wheatley Park School) grabbed the glory in the pentathlon.

They rattled up a personal best score for Oxfordshire of 7,894 points to finish ahead of Kent on 7,795 and Essex on 7,354.

O'Hara finished fourth in the individual competition with 2,753 points, which included personal bests of 1.69m in the high jump and 2mins 14.56secs in the 800m.

Barnshaw was a place back in fifth with 2,742 points after recording personal bests of 9.37m in the shot, 5.52m in the long jump and 2.10.40 in the 800m.

Oxford Mail X/C League2009/2010

Picture the scene: it's March 2010, the final race in the Oxford Mail cross-country league is done, and tired athletes are draped around the area, waiting for the prize-giving that will surely acknowledge their efforts through the season. But wait! What's this? No results? Who's the champion? Did so-and-so finally beat so-and-so(2) after years of trying? Nobody knows and there's no way of knowing. Mystery surrounds the season…..

County forced to dig deep

Oxfordshire's Under 13 boys finished sixth out of 14 counties in the Inter Counties meeting at Kingston-upon- Thames.

Although the team could produce no event winners, they did record three second places as they amassed 313 points.

The winners were Essex with 385 points The girls faced a tough competition and finished 13th with 264 points.
