However, when you decide to publish an article or a blog post, you need to make sure that you’re also linking it somewhere on your very own site. As Google continues its journey for the perfect user experience on their own site, you have to strive to keep up. The key to quality SEO is all about research research research. Any pages with duplicate content or title tags have the potential of competing with each other in the SERPs.

Where do our competitors excel?

Backlinks are links from outside domains that point to pages on your domain; essentially linking back from their domain to yours. There are no firm guarantees as to how quickly new sites – or pages – will be crawled by Google and then appear in the search index. Google and other search engines also use the text of the URL of the page to determine the content of the web page. You should use your keyword or phrase in the URL of the web page - either the folder/directory structure or the HTML file/page name itself. All major search engines use spider programs (also known as crawlers or robots) to scour the web, collect documents, give each a unique reference, scan their text, and hand them off to an indexing program.

Personalization counts: how does quality fit into this?

Blog commenting, forum posting, article submissions, Web 2.0 creations, directory submissions, social bookmarking and guest posting are some of the major ways to create quality backlinks. To generate any significant clicks from search engines, your site needs to be listed in the top five Google results. The dates traditionally included in blog post URLs do not have to be there—and by removing those dates, you make archived posts look fresh. Use keywords relevant to your products and services that your customers are searching for, especially in your Title Tags and internal links.

Aligning your goals in relation to search queries

Prominence implies that a word used at the beginning of a link or piece of text is more important than the rest. The words that follow are scored lower and lower by the algorithm until (in a very long text section) their value tends toward zero or is cut off by a programmatic truncation. A well-thought-out keyword strategy is one of the most important in this regard. The right keywords will help you attract highly targeted traffic and leave out the tyre-kickers. Buyers have a problem, and they are looking for something to solve that problem. As well as links you'd expect to find (within a site menu bar, for example) you can also create internal links by linking to past posts within newer ones."

Like news articles, content that includes statistical reports will also go out of date. f your site is linked to from other well ranking sites they consider your site to be important too. Don’t pay for links from other sites or do link exchanges as Google is wise to this and can penalise you for it. Instead give people a reason to write about you (competitions, great content people will want to share, brilliant offers, interesting news etc). That means with SEO they are essentially redundant. Backlinks can also come in different forms; do-follow and no-follow. A do-follow link is a vote of confidence. The website which links to your site is telling the search engines that your site is of high quality and the link passes PageRank to your site.
