Proposed Oxfordshire Athletics Network update

As you may be aware on Wednesday 17th June 2009 England Athletics held an opening evening inviting all clubs and organisation linked to athletics in Oxfordshire to discuss the potential of creating an Athletics Network and applying to England Athletics for funding to support the establishment of this network. On the evening there where over 30 people in attendance from many clubs and organisation from around Oxfordshire.
Following on from the open evening all those clubs and partners that wish to be involved in an Oxfordshire Athletics Network Bid where requested to attend a meeting at Tilsley Park on Monday 6th July.
Each club and partner was requested to send one volunteer / officers to this meeting on behalf of their club / organisation so they could feedback any comments.
The meeting was very productive with a Steering Group and Lead Officer being agreed and key action points moving forwards being identified (Please see attached email for more details).
One of the key discussions was around all those clubs and organisation that were not in attendance at this meeting. All those present at this meeting felt that it was important to contact all the clubs who were not in attendance to clarify whether they would like to be part of the Oxfordshire Athletics Network at this stage or not.

Could I request that if your club or organisation Would or Would Not like to be involved in the process at this stage, could you please let me know by no later than Monday 3rd August. If we do not hear from you by this time we presume that your club / organisation does not want to be part of the Oxfordshire Athletics Network at this stage.

For all those clubs / organisation who wish to be involved at this stage please be aware that the date of the next Oxfordshire Athletics Network meeting is Wednesday 5th August 7.00pm – 9.00pm (Venue TBC).

The current clubs and partners involved in the Oxfordshire Network are England Athletics, Abingdon Amblers, Bicester AC, Oxford City AC, Radley AC, Woodstock Harriers, Oxfordshire Sport, Oxfordshire AA, All School Sports Partnerships (represented by Liz Purbrick) and most Local Authorities.

It would be great to expand this group to include all the Track and Field and Road Running clubs in Oxfordshire so as to have the maximum impact on the local area.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards

Scott
